WHAT ARE DVA HOME CARE SERVICE? 

The Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) program supports veterans and their families to stay at home and independent, for as long as possible.   

Whether it’s a routine check-in, attending a social outing, or a helping hand around the house, we’re here for you. We’re registered DVA home care providers servicing suburbs across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

 

Not only that, we tailor our veterans’ home care services to you or your loved one’s unique needs, preferences and lifestyle. We take care of the back-and-forth with the DVA, arranging funding and finding the best home care solution for your situation
 

WHO CAN RECEIVE VETERANS' HOME CARE SERVICE? 

You may be eligible for veteran home care if you hold:

  • Veteran Gold Card (DVA gold card home care services is the most common pathway)

  • Veteran White Card (note: white cards can be used for an accepted service-related injury or condition) 

Cares, family members or dependants of card holders with a service-related condition may also be eligible for an assessment.

DVA home care services are flexible, they look different for everyone depending on your unique situation and needs. This may include:  

•    Routine check-ins

•    Support for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
•    Private elderly care
•    Respite for primary caregivers
•    General mobility assistance (bed, chairs, bathroom)
•    Social life reactivation
•    Technology assistance (computers, phones, emails)
•    Post office assistance (mail and delivery pickup)
•    Communication assistance
•    Medication observation, documentation and reminders
•    Pet care
•    Companionship care
•    Transport to and from daily errands or appointments (medical, hairdresser, grocery shopping)
•    Housekeeping tasks (cooking, cleaning, laundry)
•    Garden upkeep
•    Providing comfort

 

Veterans’ home care is a low-level care program. For more complex or high-level needs, you may need to seek alternative funding or Government support. At Luxe Care, we’ll take care of the admin for you and point you in the right direction.

VETERANS HOME CARE FAQS

    Yes, veterans’ benefits can cover in-home care. The veterans’ home care program is generally suited to low level care needs. 

  • DVA-home-care-services

    To be eligible, you must be a veteran gold card or veteran white card holders (white cards can be used for an accepted service-related injury or condition).

    The veterans’ home care program is generally suited to low level care, and funding amounts can vary. For complex care needs, you may need to seek additional funding. At Luxe Care, we take care of the DVA admin for you, and let you and your family know exactly what to expect.

    You will need a White Card or Gold Card and a referral from your GP.

  • DVA-home-care-services

    In most cases, you will be asked to make a co-payment toward the service costs. The cost per service is $5 per hour, capped at: 
    •    $5 per week (1 hour) for domestic assistance 
    •    $10 per week (2 hours) for personal care

    Yes, defence war widows may be eligible for veterans’ home care.
